Our Members
Our members are volunteers who have chosen to spend their free time training for K-9 search and rescue, and often their not-so-free time responding to searches for missing people. CLSAR is a non-profit 501(c)3, and we do charge or ask for remuneration for our services. It is not a cheap activity as members are responsible for all the costs of care, gear, training, and certifications involved with having a search and rescue K-9. The dogs are owned by the handler and live with them as part of their family.
Some members don’t work a K-9 and are involved in other aspects of search work. Each K-9 team goes in the field with a Field Support person who is their “eyes & ears” during a search. They run the radios, keep track of the map, watch for clues and interview people. CLSAR has a fully equipped K-9 Base, which means we also need people willing to help with Communication, Operations, Logistics and a whole host of other tasks.
Consider becoming a member & become part of a group of people who love dogs, the great outdoors and serving their community.
